The judge now finds that the green energy corridor (DGEC), the owner of the solar park at the A9, must remove more than 78,000 solar panels in the coming months, about a third of the total field. If they do not do that on time, they have to pay a million euros to Schiphol, a penalty that can amount to a maximum of 25 million euros in the absence of action.
Both DGEC and Schiphol and KLM agree that the sparkle of the solar panels is bad for safety. The dispute between the two parties is mainly about who has to pay the bill for the large -scale disassembly. Those costs are estimated at more than ten million euros,
Schiphol and KLM want to get rid of all solar panels
According to Schiphol, the solar panels cause so much sparkle that pilots get blinded through. Two weeks ago a pilot in court described how to steer with one hand because he had to cover his eyes against the sunlight reflected.
Schiphol and KLM therefore promote this summary proceedings, so that action can still be made quickly, regardless of who ultimately has to pay for that operation. The judge now agrees with them. DGEC must quickly ensure that the solar panels are removed. Those who ultimately receive the invoice must be determined later.
