The walk is about 7.5 km long, the start and arrival are on the Grote Markt, where there are numerous terraces to get back to work afterwards. In the tourism office we receive a form with questions that we have to solve en route. Because on the way there are a lot of signs with fragments from Kiekeboe strip stories, whereby a link with Poperinge is always made.
The questions are not that difficult and that is why this tour is ideal to go out with children for half a day. We pass a lot of interesting locations such as the Talbothouse, an old war cemetery with British soldiers. We are most impressed by the Burggraaf Frimout Park. A green lung where you can completely unwind a stone’s throw from the bustling center of the city. Named after Dirk Frimout, the first Belgian in the Space and Ereburger van Poperinge.
In a playful way we learn a lot about the history of the city. Highly recommended for a fun afternoon out. On the Grote Markt we drop the form with the correct answers in the letterbox. We still make a selfie like Souvenir and now we hope that we will win prizes. Because whoever participates can win an overnight stay or restaurant. And that makes it even more fun.
