Industry: Germany not resistant to enemy drones

According to the German aerospace industry, Germany is unable to effectively protect its own infrastructure against enemy drones. Technological solutions and an appropriate legal framework are missing, writes the German Association of Aerospace Industries (BDLI) in a letter to the German government.

The cooperation between the responsible institutions for drone allegation is insufficient and complex, says the association. For weeks, it was not possible to investigate illegal drone flights at the Military Airport of Manching or even prevent it, according to the letter writers.

The German army, the Bundeswehr, must catch up in the development of combat drones, which are already far advanced in the US. These flight systems should also be purchased from abroad to quickly make Germany ready for war. However, the domestic industry wants to be involved in the process and produce part of it itself.
