The World Ski Championships were financially under the bench.
There was plenty of audience at the Trondheim World Cup. The result is, however, million losses. Pasi Liesimaa
The World Skiing World Championships in the late winter became an economic disaster in Norway, NRK.
According to the NRK, the company, established for the World Ski Championships, was estimated at the beginning of the event to make SEK 15 million, or nearly EUR 1.3 million profits. Now, the loss is EUR 3.1 million.
-The fact that the estimated result of the World Cup throws about 52 million Norwegian [4,4 miljoonaa euroa] What was last predicted for the World Cup is a scandal. It is an incomprehensible, Norwegian Ski Association Secretary General Ola’s bow says.
Keul wants to thoroughly investigate the causes of the giant losses. At least the success of the audience did not get successful, as 229,000 tickets were sold to the World Cup.
– We need to accurately assess what happened with the owners and what could have been done differently. It is sad that companies hired more staff due to the World Cup and work well, but do not get their money completely, Keul says.
The Trondheim World Championship organization is owned by the Norwegian Ski Association (60 %), the Sør-Trøndelag Ski Association (30 %) and the City of Trondheim (10 %). The city of Trondheim charges about € 980,000 from the organization.
The Norwegian Ski Association has also stated that the World Cup organization owes it. The Ski Association intends to cut its own expenses by about EUR 2.3 million and reduce staff.
Last week, the city of Trondheim accused the World Cup organization for wasting and bad activities.
Part back
On Wednesday, a proposal was published that would pay the World Cup organization about 60 % of their claims. This means that creditors will not receive significant amounts.
Connections Travel & Events, who organized the accommodation of athletes, media, sponsors and viewers, estimates that it will lose € 84,600.
– We were left to pay for accommodation. It feels unfair because the International Ski Association FIS has already paid the World Cup organizations for the same accommodation, the company leader Marianne Reistveit says.
Wednesday is the fate day for the World Cup company, as then the creditors will have to announce whether or not they agree to the proposal. If any creditor refuses, the background company may go bankrupt.
