Two years ago, Santi Carzorla returned to his youth club. Finally, he helped him to climb – and will play first class in old age.

Real Oviedo continues to plan with Santi Cazorla after returning to Spain’s upper house. The former international has extended his contract with the Laliga promoter by another year-a few months before his 41st birthday in December.

The club praised the decision in clear words: Cazorla was “a symbol for Oviedo”. His contract extension shows that dreams would come true if you follow her with your heart. The midfielder embodies the club’s values like no other.

Cazorla comes from the club’s youth. After more than two decades, he returned to his homeland in the summer of 2023 to support Oviedo in the ascent. Last season he had a decisive part in returning to Laliga after 24 years. In the play-off second leg against CD Mirandés, which he described as “the most important game in my career”, he himself met himself to equalize and thus prepared the way for his team’s 3-1 win.

In his career, Cazorla played numerous games for the Spanish national team and was part of the squad at the European Championship titles in 2008 and 2012. With Arsenal FC, he won the FA Cup twice.
