Groenewegen is looking forward to tour ride with opportunities for sprinters
Dylan Groenewegen is looking forward to the weekend in the Tour de France, where he can show his sprinter qualities again for the first time since Monday. “I’m looking forward to it,” Jayco – Alula’s Dutchman looked ahead before the start of the eighth stage.
After the sprint won by the Belgian Tim Merlier in the third stage, three difficult hill trips and a time trial followed. “Finally two days that can be a sprint on paper,” Groenewegen said at the NOS on Saturday. “Today there is a slightly more difficult final with a last kilometer that runs up a bit. We can’t call it a mountain, but it is running up a bit nasty.”
“I don’t want to waste too much energy before and be there at the right time to take it on,” said Groenewegen, who indicated that he had previously suffered from his stomach in the Tour. “I feel a lot better now than during the first days, when I didn’t feel completely top. I am ready.”
