The trainer of the German U21 has a clear opinion on the widespread reports before the final defeat against England.

Shortly before the European Championship final against England, the German U21 focus was on sporty focus. However, a message from the square caused a sensation. Reports about a possible change from Nick Woltemade to FC Bayern made the round two days before the final. U21 coach Antonio di Salvo found clear words for this.

In conversation with “Sports Illustrated Germany”, the 46-year-old said that the reports were not the reason for the 2: 3 defeat after extension, but the time still disturbed him: “Such topics are part of the business. This story was not the reason for the defeat. Nevertheless, it is a shame if there is more about transfer rumors than about the game before one final.”

According to Di Salvo, the topic was “not really” a problem for his team. If at all, then Woltemade dealt with it itself. The coach reported that he spoke to the 23-year-old before the game. Woltemade assured him that the talks in the background have been running for a long time and that he focuses fully on the final. This was done for Di Salvo.

At the European Championship, Woltemade had previously scored six goals in four games. In the final against England, however, the attacker remained without a hit.
