Punctual after the widespread diffusion in the range of cars, Volkswagen brings its Ehybrid system to the world of commercial vehicles, making two successful models even more complete: the People Mover Multivan and the iconic California camper, both in the 4motion variant or the all -wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid feeding of multivan and California is a second generation Ehybrid system. A 176 HP 1.5 TSI EVO2 petrol engine is used combined with an 115 HP electric motor on the front axle, integrated into a plug-in hybrid module with double clutch automatic transmission (DSG). As a third technical module there is a second electric motor on the rear axle with a power of 136 HP. Together they develop a 350 Nm system torque with a maximum power of 245 HP. Another key component is the new 19.7 kWh high voltage battery, almost double the energy capacity of the previous Multivan Ehybrid. It is possible to load up to 11 kW with AC stations and up to 50 kW at DC quick charging stations. The autonomy in electric mode reaches up to 91 km in the combined cycle.
All -wheel drive

The new Plug -in hybrid all -wheel drive system allows the vehicle to start in fully electric mode up to -28 degrees temperatures. Up to a speed of 65 km/h, the rear electric motor provides “assisted” all -wheel drive at the time of departure and also with the discharged battery, is available as it is powered by the energy produced by the TSI and the front electric motor, which, in this, acts as a generator. The distribution of the power of the 4motion system is regulated by electronic stability control (ESC) and is variable, based on the driving situation or traction on the axes. Thus up to 100% of the driving force can be addressed to the front or rear axis. Finally, moving from the D mode to Sport S mode, permanent all -wheel drive is activated. Multivan and California Ehybrid 4motion can be guided up to 130 km/h in electric mode and up to 200 km/h in hybrid.
The stationary climate

Important aspect: both the Multivan Ehybrid 4motion and the California Ehybrid 4Motion offer a system of Electric stationary air conditioning which can be used to cool, ventilate and heat the minivan and the camper. The air conditioning system is powered by both the high voltage battery and from the electricity grid during the charging phase, ensuring a comfortable internal temperature in the vehicle before the start of the trip. In addition to comfort, stationary air conditioning contributes to safeguarding the battery charge. Let’s see i prices.
