The defending champion continues: Carlos Alcaraz is in the Wimbledon final for the third time in a row-and now wants to go to an exclusive club.

Carlos Alcaraz is again in Wimbledon’s final. In the semifinals, the defending champion prevailed against the American Taylor Fritz with 6: 4, 5: 7, 6: 3, 7: 6 (8: 6)-and thus remains unbeaten in the classic lawn. For the 22 -year -old Spaniard, it was the 20th victory in series on the Holy lawn of London.

“It was a really difficult match. It was very difficult conditions in the temperatures here,” said Alcaraz, who had to ward off two set balls at over 30 degrees in the fourth set. “This is my dream here.” In the final, the world ranking second will meet the winner of the duel between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djoković on Sunday.

In front of the eyes of numerous stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tobey Maguire, Alcaraz started with a quick break. At the beginning, Fritz looked nervous in his first semi -finals at the world’s most important rasis tournament. Despite his successful preparation with titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne, the world ranking fifth could hardly put the Spaniard under pressure.

At 3: 1 in the first sentence, Alcaraz apparently had problems with the eye, was treated briefly – but continued to play steadfastly. After 35 minutes he used the first set ball.

It was only in the second set. Fritz found better into the game, while Alcaraz lost the rhythm in phases. After several game interruptions due to circulatory problems in the audience, Fritz got the sentence to zero with a break. After the change of sides, however, the Spaniard gathered quickly. In the meantime he won 13 points in a row and dominated sentence three.

The fourth round remained balanced for a long time – without break chances on both sides. In the tie-break, Alcaraz defended two set balls and won the match with a spectacular point.

For the sixth time, the Spaniard is in a Grand Slam final. He won the previous five end games. Three Wimbledon final in series previously only reached nine other players-including Boris Becker. Only four players in the professional era then won three titles one after the other: Björn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Novak Djoković.
