Spain secures group victory – Italy further despite bankruptcy

Spain did not start a good start against Italy. But the shock only lasted briefly and in the end the group victory was.
Spain also won the last group game at the European European Championship. Against Italy, the reigning world champion prevailed 3-1 (1: 1) and thus strengthened the victory in Group B.
Italy caught the better start and took the lead in the tenth minute of the game with a goal from Elisabetta Oliviero. But Spain promptly replied and equalized four minutes later through Athenea del Castillo. Patri Guijarro got the lead in the 49th minute and Esther González made the final score in the first minute of stoppage time.
Despite the defeat, Italy is also second to the quarter -finals. In order to intercept the Italians, Portugal would have had to win in the parallel game against Belgium, but they were subject to 1: 2.
Spain now meets Switzerland in the quarterfinals. The Swiss Consumers ended up in second place in Group A. Italy meets group winners Norway.
Spain controlled the game over the usual possession of the ball, but initially had little chance against disciplined defending Italians. The Squadra Azzurra did better. First captain Elena Linari headed the ball on the crossbar, seconds later the ball was in the goal. Spain’s Mariona Caldentey involuntarily delivered the perfect template in the penalty area, the conclusion to the form of form.
The joy of the tour was only briefly. Del Castillo played a double pass with Alexia Putellas and swilved the perfect ball from almost 16 meters half -high into the corner. Trainer Montserrat Tomé, who had changed her team in six positions compared to the 6-2 against Belgium, ball for the first time.

The European Championship for Portugal and Belgium is over. In the direct duel in Sion, at least for Belgium, it was enough for the first and late preliminary round victory. In the 2-1 (1-0) Janice Cayman (90.+6) scored the winning goal. Belgium’s record goalkeeper Tessa Wullaert (3rd) and Telma Encarnação (87th) had previously met.
