Top favorite Tadej Pogacar dominates the competition at the Tour de France on the first stages almost at will-and in the opinion of Germany’s cycling hope Florian Lipowitz will probably continue.

“If he continues like this, he will be unbeatable,” Lipowitz told the “German Press Agency”.

Pogacar had not only won the day’s victory on the seventh stage of the Tour de France 2025 at the legendary Mûr-de-Bretagne, but also recaptured the yellow jersey.

Only his challenger Jonas Vingegaard was able to hold the superstar’s rear wheel in the classic finals of the 197 km long stage.

“It would be a mistake if you look at Jonas and Pogacar all the time. I mean that they drive in their own league at the end. We have to focus on ourselves,” said Lipowitz.

The Youngster from the Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe team shone again as the best German, but still lost the connection to the top stars around Vingegaard and Pogacar in the Knüppelhaft final and conceded 21 seconds in the end. In the overall ranking he is now eighth, 3:02 minutes behind Pogacar.

Tour de France: “Hard” started for Florian Lipowitz

Lipowitz puts great hope in the second week of tour and the transition to mountainous terrain. “It’s always super stressful on the flat stages. Super a lot of falls happen. I hope that things are getting more relaxed in the mountains,” said the 24-year-old.

The first days of the tour of the France were “hard” for him, known Lipowitz, “but now I feel quite good from day to day. I hope it stays that way”.

Lipowitz recently received praise from the former Tour-de France winner Jan Ullrich. “I think the boy doesn’t even know how strong he is,” said Ullrich in the “ARD” after the individual time trial in Caen. “He impressed me super.”
