The sudden end of Red Bull team boss Horner is still making headlines. Ralf Schumacher now delivers the background and criticizes the dismissed sharply.
The dismissal of Christian Horner as the team boss of Red Bull continues to beat High waves in Formula 1. Now the former racing driver Ralf Schumacher has also restricted himself in the debate and has fought violent criticism of Horner.
“Horner is a difficult character, I have to say. He could only refer to his own experiences with Horner, according to the brother of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher: “But I also think he can’t really deal with criticism.” And further: “This is actually a joke, because a man who has won so much should actually be able to discuss it in front of the camera.”
In the past, Schumacher always had differences with Horner. In particular, due to Schumacher’s theory about a deliberate accident by Verstappen at the Grand Prix in Barcelona, both came together. Schumacher, who has now worked as a Formula 1 expert for Sky, suspected an intention behind the accident with Mercedes pilot George Russell. Horner rejected these statements as “greatest nonsense”.
Schumacher also reports on a heated argument that he observed on the sidelines of the race in Silverstone on July 6th-between Horner, Jos Verstappen and the Red Bull press chief Paul Smith, who was now left behind. Jos Verstappen, the father of Red Bull Pilot and world champion Max Verstappen, is said to have gestured violently according to “Bild” and showed his finger on the ex-team boss and Smith. In addition, the sentence should have fallen: “I keep the pressure high on you, Christian.” In the scene it was at least known behind the scenes that Jos Verstappen and Horner were arch enemies.
Shortly after the Grand Prix in Silverstone, Horner’s farewell was officially confirmed. He said goodbye to Instagram “heavy heart from the team”, which he “loves so much”. This ends an era at Red Bull. Actually, Horner’s contract ran until 2030.
An affair for inappropriate behavior, the sporting crisis that has been going on for months and the impending loss of series world champion Max Verstappen provided the Red Bull Group bosses for the exhaustion of the team boss for 20 years. Horner also lost the long smoldering power struggle with the team, which he made so successful. To the successor, the top of the group promoted the previous team boss of the small sister racing team Racing Bulls, Laurent Mekies (48).
