“Something is wrong with the road,” says Miranda determined. On Alarmeringen.nl she shows the times that the ambulance should come by on this road after an accident. “Every month it is hit. And 25 hours after my accident it was hit again!”
Van Berge sigh: “We are gradually being used to it. Nothing is being done about it, but it is now time. It is really a dangerous situation. Look, we are not sitting here either. Every time you hear something, you think ‘Ohjee, one will go again’.”
The municipality is not going to tackle it
The municipality has registered nine accidents in the past five years, alderman Gerard Slegers said through his spokesperson. “This is a busy road with around 16,000 traffic movements per day. The majority (of the accidents, ed.) Are single -sided accidents at wet road surface.” According to him, high speeds also play a role in this.
The road was adjusted in 2017: then road narrows came to one roadway, so that the speed should go down. “There are also warning signs and improved turn shields in the bends.” There are currently no plans to adjust the traffic situation.
Miranda doesn’t leave it at that. She believes that the municipality of Zaanstad should have done something on the road much earlier and is going to seek legal help to hold Zaanstad liable. “The municipality has been negligent. The road is old and finished.”
