Boom the Armaments and growing interest
The German armaments industry is currently experiencing an unprecedented upswing. Since the beginning of the Ukraine War, the demand for weapons, ammunition and military equipment has increased massively-a trend that is additionally fueled by the US president’s cut-out plans in relation to Ukraine aids. The industry is also increasingly presenting itself as an attractive employer: According to several media reports, many applicants are now coming from the cravilating automotive industry.
Who pays the most? The salary comparison of the top armor
A comparison of the salary data that can be found on the Kununu employer assessment platform shows: Hensoldt is ahead in the direct industry comparison. With a salary spectrum of 47,300 euros for industrial mechanics up to 131,300 euros for department heads, the company not only offers the highest top salaries, but also convinces at specialist positions. For example, engineers earn an average of 85,800 euros, project manager 85,100 euros and controller 80,900 euros. The salary satisfaction is remarkable 87 percent – a top value in comparison.
Rheinmetall offers a slightly lower salary span with 41,100 to 119,300 euros. Here, too, project managers (80,500 euros), engineers (74,300 euros) and controller (71,700 euros) are well paid, but satisfaction with the salary is significantly lower at 70 percent.
Renk lies with the average values in many areas behind Hensoldt and Rheinmetall, but stands out for individual management positions: team leaders earn an average of 100,200 euros, department heads 91,700 euros. Engineers receive an average of 67,300 euros, technical specialists are usually in the range between 45,000 and 65,000 euros. Sales managers also perform above average with around 91,100 euros. Overall, REK tends to be lower comparative values, but individual top positions are strongly paid.
In the overall comparison, Hensoldt clearly dominates for specialist and technology professions, while Renk opens up for managers. Rheinmetall is solid in midfield – with stable but somewhat lower values.
Labor market: demand, opportunities and career changers
The German armaments industry is increasingly developing into a job engine. According to a report by NTV, the number of employees subject to social security in weapons, ammunition and vehicle production has increased by 22 percent since the beginning of the Ukraine War. Technicians, engineers and project managers are primarily sought, as ZDFheute reports. Rheinmetall in particular is massive: the group hires up to 8,000 new employees annually and sees the development as long -term.
There are also new perspectives for career changers. Specialists from the battered auto industry are increasingly switching to companies such as Rheinmetall and Hensoldt – not least because they make takeover offers. At the same time, the image of the industry changes: What has long been considered morally controversial is increasingly perceived as a safe and systematic employer. This also strengthens the attractiveness – even away from the content.
