Rasmussen leaves Ajax for Fortuna Düsseldorf
Christian Rasmussen leaves Ajax for Fortuna Düsseldorf. The 22-year-old Danish attacker did not succeed in getting a base place at the club from Amsterdam in recent seasons.
Rasmussen was under contract with Ajax for another two years. Fortuna Düsseldorf reportedly pays 1.5 million euros for him. Rasmussen was told last month that he was allowed to leave Ajax. He played 25 duels in the first team of the number 2 of last season in the Eredivisie.
“Christian had been playing at Ajax for a number of years, but unfortunately he was unable to make the final step as a basic player,” responds technical director Alex Kroes to the departure of Rasmussen. “He is a hard worker and for him it is hoped that he can take that extra step in the second Bundesliga to successfully continue his career.”
With the sale of a number of superfluous players, Kroes wants to create money for new purchases. Jakov Medic (Norwich City) and Kristian Hlynsson (FC Twente) and Jordan Henderson also said goodbye to Ajax in recent weeks. It is not yet known where Henderson will play football.

Ajax also counts on a departure from Borna Sosa (Crystal Palace) and Sivert Mannverk (Blackburn Rovers). The club also wants to say goodbye to Chuba Akpom, Carlos Forbs, Branco van den Boomen and Jay Gorter this summer.
