On the site of the Prince Bernhardhoeve (PBH) in Zuidlaren, the construction of the new Laarhove residential area started. The demolished event center makes way for at least 285 owner-occupied and rental homes.
Bouwbedrijf Bouwhuis today started cleaning up the last concrete walls and foundations of the old event hall. Then the asphalt and the vowels of the parking spaces are removed and new roads and sewerage are coming.
The municipality of Tynaarlo has been trying to get the project off the ground for more than fifteen years and now it seems to work. “I am really happy,” says alderman Jurryt Vellinga (Liveable Tynaarlo). “There is a great need for homes in Zuidlaren and this is the best place for a beautiful new residential area.”
Recently the municipal council gave the green light for the development of the residential area, on the back of the PBH site. There is, however, an appeal at the Council of State. The owner of the adjacent Havezathe Laarwoud cannot agree with the building plans of the municipality.
It will probably take another year before that case is treated by the judge, but Alderman Vellinga does not want to wait for that. “We think we have a good story and I don’t think it is possible that we wait so long to build new homes. So we are going to start anyway.”
The intention is that Bouwhuis will be ready to prepare the land in a year. From then on the first houses will be built. Vellinga: “The following year (2027 ed.) The first people can go in.” With the publishing of the lots, the municipality wants to wait until the case is over at the Council of State.
The first work will also be started somewhere at the front of the PBH site somewhere in the coming weeks. There will be two large supermarkets of 2,000 square meters each on the edge of the village center. There are 32 apartments on top of the supermarkets and a parking garage under the buildings.
