The Canadiens posted a picture on social media in which Aatos is dressed in a white sweater and grabbed a ship’s helm. Just like his father’s legendary Les Canadiens cover photo in the late 1990s.
This is a clear tribute to Saku, who became a big favorite of fans in Montreal and served as the club’s captain for more than a decade. Aatos’ tribute was also widely taken into account in hockey circles, and the picture quickly collected thousands of likes and comments on the NHL’s official account.

In the footsteps of the father

Saku played in the Canadiens from 1995 to 2009 and served as the first European captain of club history. His overall career in the NHL consisted of 1,124 regular season matches and 80 playoffs in the ranks of Montreal and Anaheim Ducks.
