Lauryn Hill came up not at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning (June 05) Essence Festival on stage. Her appearance was of course planned much earlier-and now she also played in front of a mini audience.
Even before her, Glorilla, the Isley Brothers, Babyface, Maxwell, Coco Jones and Psiryn had to go on stage with severe delays. Glorilla practically played the slot that was intended for which Isley Brothers was intended. This forced the band to move baby face backwards. And so it went on.
Even though after Maxwell, a announcement was made for everyone that Lauryn Hill would soon appear, there were again technical difficulties that dragged on until night that evening and only led to the singer’s very late performance.
Not even 1000 visitors stayed for Lauryn Hill
While the usual suspects Lauryn Hill, like other concerts of their current tour, blamed for the delay, they defended some iron. In the stadium, which has space for more than 80,000 people, there were just a few hundred listeners for their appearance.
Hill rewarded the hard-boiled people who had remained, according to eyewitnesses with a show freed from every pressure in a fixed voice, in which she even accepted a song request alongside live songs on her masterpiece “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” and brought her children Zion and Joshua Marley on the stage.
Incidentally, the end of the concert was at 3:37 a.m. in the early morning – and then it was really over.
