Chance of ‘Megabranden’ in Europe is increasing sharply due to climate change: “In southern Europe up to ten times more risk”

Research shows that certain European areas up to ten times more likely to have catastrophic ‘megabranden’ at a moderate temperature rise. And the danger is not limited to the Mediterranean. “Even with us in the Benelux, the risk increases by 10 percent towards the end of the century,” says climatologist Lander van Tricht.
