William Albert Ackman is mostly known as Bill Ackam. The 59-year-old made billions with clever investments, according to “Forbes” he occupies $ 308 of the richest people worldwide with a fortune of breathtaking $ 8.9 billion. In the sports world, however, William Albert Ackman is rather not a term – until now. The American faces his professional debut in tennis. Ackman is registered in doubles together with the former top 10 player Jack Sock.

Jack Sock once ranked eighth in the tennis world rankings, reached the round of 16 of the French Open 2015 and the US Open 2016 and celebrated its biggest title at the prestigious Masters in Paris 2017.

Socks reads even more remarkable when you look at the double competitions: With the men, Sock with the Canadian Vasek Pospisil and his American compatriot Mike Bryan won a total of three Grand Slams and bronze at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, in Mixed the title at the US Open 2011 and gold in Rio.

Ackman hopes for a record

After the US Open 2023, Sock gave up the racket, now the 32-year-old is returning to the tour to compete with Ackman at the Challenger in Newport. The duo received a wildcard from the organizer.

On X, Ackman announced that he was originally invited to a double on the professional tour by Nick Kyrgios, but the Australian had to cancel injured. “But fortunately, fate attacked,” Sock received the right to start and instead invited him to go to his side.

“When we win, I am pretty sure that when I was 59, I will be the oldest person in tennis history who has won ATP points,” continued Ackman. He plays the best tennis of his life “and Jack is one of the best double players ever”.

However, the way to victory will certainly not be very easy. At the start, it is against the former top 20 player Bernard Tomic and the current number 202 Omar Jasika. So far, however, the two Australians have rarely been convincing, but they have never played together.
