As a cyclist, twenty percent of the over-55s regularly feel unsafe in traffic. This is the conclusion of a study by the Flemish Stichting Traffic Engineering (VSV) in more than 2,000 Flemish people aged 55 and older. A lack of bicycle infrastructure and ‘new road users’ such as speedpedelecs and e-steps are the main causes of that feeling of insecurity. With the survey, VSV and Minister Annick De Ridder want to see how we can keep Flemish people on the bike for as long and safely as possible.
