After a public dispute with US President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, announced on Saturday The establishment of a new political party. Musk made the announcement a day after Trump signed his “Big Beautiful Bill” on Friday, which Musk described as “disgusting hideousness”. Musk said he could initially target some congress elections, but did not name any specific races.
“Movement beyond red and blue”
“In a ratio of 2: 1 you want a new political party – and you should have it!”, He wrote on his website X, alluding to a survey he published the day before. “When it comes to driving our country into bankruptcy through waste and nepotism, we live in a one -party system, not in a democracy. Today the America party is founded to give you your freedom.”
A recently set up one-page website under ThenaMericaparty.org describes the new movement as a “a movement of ordinary citizens who work for pragmatic solutions, financial responsibility, principal leadership and a lighter future for all Americans-beyond red and blue.”
According to its website, the party supports small companies, a digital charter of fundamental rights to promote free expression and “next-gen-nuclear energy”.
The “space frontier” is one of its central pillars. It calls for investments in starting technologies, moon logistics and Mars research and development to “open up the industry and wealth from space mining -so that America leads to the next big leap”. Musk, who is aiming for Mars’s settlement, heads the SpaceX space company, an important government contractor.
“Stem-First” education and basic income projects
The America Party website also in favor of “performance-based immigration, Stem-centered education and pilot projects for a universal basic income in response to change through AI”. The website was apparently updated on Saturday and now contains a link to Musk’s Super-Pac, America Pac.
Musk had spent $ 290 million during the 2024 election campaign to support Trump and the Republicans. He then became head of Trump’s so -called Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), which led nationwide mass layoffs to government agencies and supported Trump’s efforts to centralize control over personal data of the Americans and central federal structures.
Musk became increasingly unpopular due to his role in the Trump government. He caused a sensation when he made a greeting with an outstretched arm at an event after Trump’s inauguration in January. And ruthlessly against the federal authorities in his role in Doge. Both Musk and its electric car company Tesla then became the aim of numerous protests across the country. Its popularity values have dropped drastically since the beginning of last year. A trend that could continue if Trump continues against him.
From allies to enemies
The billionaire left the government in May. Since then he and Trump have been in an open argument. Musk published (and later deleted) a contribution in which he claimed that there were files about Trump’s connection to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump is said to have been “depressed” according to the end of her “Bromance”. He called Musk a “blatant drug addict” on the phone. (The New York Times reported in May that Musk took so much ketamine that it affects its ability to urinate. Musk denied this.)
Shortly before his resignation from the government, Musk had stated that he had “invested enough” politically and would do “much less” in the future.
Trump threatens Musk’s expulsion
Formerly this week, Trump escalated the dispute. He said he had to “seriously” consider whether he had Musk identified. This comes from South Africa. He also threatened to delete the subsidies for Musk’s companies.
“Elon may get more subsidies than any other person in history. And by far. And without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close his shops. Back to South Africa,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “No more rocket starts. No satellites. No production of electric cars either. And our country would save a fortune. Maybe DOGE should take a closer look? There is a lot to save !!!”
Concentration on congress campaigns
Musk indicated that his new party could concentrate on certain congress races. He had previously explained that he wanted to put himself against MPs who supported the Big Beautiful Bill.
“A possible way to implement this would be the targeted focus on just two or three Senate seats and eight to ten seats in the House of Representatives,” he wrote. “In view of the wafer -thin majority in the legislative process, this would be sufficient to be the decisive voice in controversial laws. And to ensure that they serve the true will of the people.”
Security warning on website
The new party already had the first problems. The America Party website contains a red security warning at the top of the screen, according to which unauthorized persons use the URL of the website for cryptocurrency fraud. The party “started or supported no cryptocurrency or token.”
