André Göldner has been cooking for teams from the German Football Association (DFB) since 2019. At the European Championship Championship, it takes care that the stomach does not stand in the way of the success of the German footballers.

A splash of grape seed oil in the pan and evenly distribute. Daden over excess oil. Then put the dough in the pan and swivel so that it only sticks to the hot pan everywhere. Fry briefly – one of the DFB women’s favorite dishes is ready.

Dinkelcrêpes are very popular with the team – and as well in the coaching and supervisory staff. André Göldner and David Seepe, who cook and fry during the European Championship, prepare the dough before each game.

The thin pancakes are also particularly well received because the players can choose the fillings for their crepes themselves. “We make a do-it-yourself station out of it”explains Göldner, who prepared the team’s body dish on Saturday for the sports show. As a filling, date-hazelnut cream, chestnut honey or cinnamon and brown sugar are available. In the supervisor, however, the nut-nougat spread is also used.

Men and women? “Not an incredibly many differences”

Göldner has been cooking for the DFB women since 2019. It belongs to a pool of ten to twelve chefs who are responsible for the different teams of the German Football Association. The long -time companion of the German players is no longer there – Hannes Flade has opened his own bistro and bakery in Oldenburg.

“The boys also like to eat a piece of meat. That doesn’t happen as often with the girls.”

Göldner was already working for the men’s national team, this year he cooked the U21 to the European Vice Championship. “Actually, the coaches don’t want rotation, the positions should already be firmly occupied”explains the cook, who learned his craft in a luxury hotel in Heiligendamm.

So now the full concentration of the European Women’s European Championship in Switzerland applies. Actually there are between cooking for men and women “Not so a lot of differences”. For women, however, significantly less meat is on the menu. “But basically it is structured similarly.”

Not only Birthday children may want something

As a rule, there are four meals: breakfast, lunch, coffee/cake and dinner. Coffee and cake? For example, there is a quino bar bar or a vegan cheesecake for the DFB women.

“The topic of nutrition and also food as a cultural asset always fascinated me.”

But since the team came together in mid -June to start the training camp in Herzogenaurach, three players have had their birthday. And then the birthday children can also wish for something: from vegan chocolate cake to the simple marble version.

But otherwise the chefs respond to the wishes of the players. “There are a lot of things that the girls like: this is the Indian curry with the Naan bread, the fried rice and that is a corn chicken breast. Temph, spring rolls or tofu, various types of fruit and berry.” It is always a highlight when there is sushi.

There is a different process on match days

There are special features on the game days – because then the regular dinner ceases to exist. After breakfast and lunch, there was another (2-0) meal before the first German European Championship game against Poland (2-0) to optimally prepare the players for the match.

In addition, Göldner and Seepe had prepared for all Bowls together with the kitchen employees in the team quarters, the players were allowed to choose a variety. After the game, match winner Jule Brand and Co. could simply use. On the way through the mixed zone, each player had at least one cardboard box and cutlery with her.

The memory could then be replenished directly on the bus trip back to the hotel. Preparation for the game against Denmark in Basel next Tuesday (from 5.15 p.m. in the first and in the live stream) had started. And before it starts again, there are again, the dinkel crepes that are so popular with the players.
