Gerson leaves his home of Brazil once more and is now looking for his luck in Russia. Zenit St. Petersburg has drawn the exit clause of 25 million euros for the 28-year-old midfielder, who has been under contract with his ex-club Flamengo de Janeiro since 2023.
In his career, Gerson is already the fifth transfer for a sum for a second -time million amount and at least EUR 13 million. In 2016 he broke out from Fluminense for the first time towards Europe and returned after stations at Roma and Fiorentina in 2019. In 2021 there was another attempt at Olympique Marseille before going back to Flamengo. With the top club from Rio de Janeiro, Gerson took part in the club World Cup and scored in the group game at 2: 4 (1: 3) against FC Bayern for the meantime 1: 2.
