Taylor Fritz also qualified for the fourth round of Wimbledon. In four sets, the fifth placed American defeated Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina: 6-4, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1.

Davidovich Fokina had a round earlier Botic van de Zandschulp eliminated in a game that had been demolished on Wednesday and was only finished on Thursday.

Fritz seemed on the way to a simple victory in three sets and was 5-2 ahead of the third set. At 5-3 he was allowed to serve before the competition, but could not finish it. Davidovich Fokina came back and won the tiebreak. In the fourth set, Fritz came over his slump and ran out to 5-1. After just over three hours, he used his first match point.

The American will face the winner of the party between the Italian Luciano Darderi and Australian Jordan Thompson in the fourth round.

David Pel to third round Double game Wimbledon

David Pel has reached the third round of the doubles of Wimbledon for the second time. The 33-year-old Noord-Hollander beat the grass in London in the second round with his partner Rinky Hijikata from Australia the Americans Robert Cash and JJ Tracy: 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (11).

In the third round, Pel and Hijikata compete against the third placed Germans Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz. The Dutchman and the Australian are placed fourth.

Demi Schuurs and Sander Arends beaches in mixed double

In the mixed doubles, Sander Arends and Demi Schuurs stranded in the first round. Arends and Schuurs lost to the British duo Joshua Paris and Eden Silva. It became 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5) for the British couple.
