To scare a technologically high -quality enemy, the combat force must be increased. After all, Europe must guarantee safety and stability itself. The new digital transformation strategy (DTS), where digital technology plays the leading role, must achieve this. State Secretary Gijs Tuinman of Defense sent the plan to the Chamber today.
Gardener referred to the war in Ukraine. Things like data and drones play a crucial role there. He also called the deteriorated security situation in Europe. Furthermore, digital innovation in the civil and military domain went unprecedentedly fast. Defense must stay ahead of the enemy.
5 spearheads
The digital transformation strategy (DTS) focuses on the changes needed as a result of digitization of society and in the military domain. The strategy focuses on 5 spearheads:
- Communication & digital cooperation: Being able to communicate safely and without restrictions with strategic partners on land, at sea, in the air, at cyber and in space.
- Digital foundation: It concerns access to storage and computing power in all circumstances and the digitization of processes of defense-wide. This is the basis for further innovation.
- Data, AI and autonomy: This allows Defense to build an integrated image to make data -driven decisions. Smart algorithms, coupled and trained with good data sets, lead to better insights.
- Electromagnetic spectrum, cyber and redundancy: they are intended to disrupt the opponent’s digital abilities. This has more and more influence on combat power. Defense therefore invests in so -called Endpoint Management systems to protect laptops, desktops and the like against cyber and take care of backups.
- Digital adaptability: This is the ability to constantly look for ways to convert current and new technology into combat power. This is crucial. In addition, well -integrated IT and data form an increasingly powerful weapon system.
Dutch digitization strategy
The DTS fits well with the government -wide Dutch digitization strategy (NDS), according to the State Secretary. The room will also receive it soon.
