I grew up between the bakery and the store. Then worked at Hoogovens, Akzo Nobel, Koninklijke van Kempen and Begeer, Bavaria and Henzo. My entire active industrial life was characterized by relocating industry to low -wage countries. Unfortunately, politics refused to intervene in this relocation. Very environmentally polluting effects, poorer production conditions, much less regulations and control, polluting transport, flying back and forth to those producers, in short; The actual price of those products was much higher. We are now being presented with the bill; Global warming.
The call that is now made to save Dutch industry sounds like music to me. Fortunately, another wind is blowing in the political landscape; We must be able to save ourselves, too great dependence on countries such as China and the US is not desirable. And let’s be; Making a tangible product is much nicer than messing around with policies or something. I would like to get back to work in Dutch industry!
