One Márquez brother was allowed to cheer, the other must be operated on. In Assen, the MotoGP race had a fall with consequences.

While Marc Márquez celebrated his third victory in a row in Assen, a violent accident of his brother Álex overshadowed the MotoGP weekend. The 29-year-old came down in the duel with Pedro Acosta (KTM) and dried a break from the left.

The Ducati pilot lost control of its machine in an acceleration phase and hit the asphalt hard. As the Gresini team announced, Márquez is operated on in Madrid in the evening. It is open whether the World Cup second will return to the next race on the Sachsenring on July 13th.

Marc Márquez equated with the victory in Assen with Giacomo Agostini – both now have 68 successes in the premier class. Even before the main race there was a serious incident in the Moto3. In an overtaking maneuver, Luca Lunetta drove up to his in front and was then overwhelmed by Taiyo Furusato and Adrián Fernández. The two could no longer avoid. Lunetta, who was conscious, suffered a broken leg. The race was canceled.
