Johan Derksen is bothered that Pieter Cobelens often answers serious questions with a somewhat faint joke. “He tends to hang out the comedian,” said the VI-snor.
In the fall of 2023 it went wrong for good between Johan Derksen and Pieter Cobelens. After a controversial statement by the VI-snor about Jews, the Major General Buiten Dienst gave him a position live on television and after that it never worked out between the two gentlemen. Pieter was slowly replaced by Arend Jan Boekestijn.
Pieters jokes
Nowadays we only see Pieter on the bar stool of the Oranjezomer. Henk Kuipers, the former No Surrender captain who makes a podcast with Johan, is annoyed by that. “What I find the worst of the program – I will also stay there, he is sometimes at the table with you – that is the general who sits there.”
He continues in the podcast Greetings from Grolloo: “Why do you invite it instead of Mart de Kruif or whatever? If you then want a man who wants to know what things, then I would invite Mart de Kruif, who says some sensible things. This one who wants to make jokes in between, which is not a joke and that man really can’t hear any more man.”
Rather Mart
Johan also likes to see Mart. “No, but that is a problem. Look, Mart de Kruif is the best of all those old generals. He can best interpret and formulates it clearly, so that everyone understands it, but every channel pulls Mart de Kruif and we often have that Mart is already at a different talk show.”
Henk: “Yes, but we also often have that he (Pieter, ed.) Just sits there.”
Johan: “Well, Pieter is mainly with the Oranjezomer, he belongs a bit.”
Comedian
Johan himself does not have such a good click with Pieter. “It is not a unkind man, but he tends to want to hang out the comedian and people who are not a comedian should not do that. Look, Youp van ‘t Hek does not depend on the general either.”
Henk: “That is what I mean. It is not a light -hearted story of course. He wants to bring it lightly to the people. Maybe there is something to be said for that, because everyone in the Netherlands is also a bit scared of course what happens in world politics.”
Curly boy
Incidentally, Johan does not try to disqualify Pieter in terms of content. “Yes, we have to say that the man knows what he’s hot about, because he was the boss of the domestic security service. It is not some curly boy.”
Then destructive: “But he is actually the reserve for Mart de Kruif.”
