The series winners from the capital simply did not continue in the decisive final second leg after early behind. Now there is an allegation.

After a scandal about series winner TTC Berlin Eastside, the table tennis players of the TTC Weinheim celebrated their first championship in the Bundesliga final. The capital team, who started as the defending champion, gave the upcoming four individuals without a fight after the 3: 6 in the first duel in the second duel in the second duel in the second duel after defeats in the two opening doubles and thus provoked the decisive 0: 6 classification of the encounter.

At the request of the SID news agency, Berlin manager Andreas Hain justified the termination of the game with the protection of his players from the high temperatures in the hall. In addition, the former head of interim of the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) has already announced an official protest.

Due to the first demolition of a final in the almost 60-year history of Bundesliga, Berlin also missed the last chance of his fifth triple after his previous triumphs in the trophy and Champions League.

Hain’s Weinheim colleague Christian Säger described the early exit of the Berliners before expectation of fans as “downside” in the jubilation of the first championship of his club. “For the spectators and our team who had wanted a decision at the table, it is all a shame. It was anything but advertising for the women’s table tennis,” said Säger to the SID.

According to Hain, the thermometer in Weinheim’s Halle was 38.8 degrees in the initial phase of the game. The Eastside manager did not want to understand the rejection of the Berlin protests against the further termination of the game by the responsible chief referee: “The chief referee is not a doctor by profession.”

In the capital media, however, speculation about another reason for the behavior of the Berlin team leadership circulated shortly after the game: According to this, the guests would simply have given up after the 0: 2 interim status due to only a small chance of the required victory. Hain rejected this with reprint.

However, Berlin had to move into the championship final. The German internationals Nina Mittelham and Shan Xiaona played too few games for Eastside in the main round in order to be eligible to play for the final.
