Sebastian Vettel shaped Formula 1 for years. Motorsport also remained true to motorsport after his career. And now shows interest in the highest motorsport class.
Formula 1 stops in Spielberg-and while the engines are crying on the Red Bull ring, the speculations about a possible comeback by Sebastian Vettel are condensed. The four -time world champion is thinking out loud about a future at his former racing team. A return to the cockpit is excluded, but a role comes into focus off the route.
Vettel, 37, said goodbye to Formula 1 at the end of 2022 and has been committed to environmental and social issues since then. However, he is still closely connected to Red Bull. Between 2010 and 2013 he won four World Cup titles with the team. Now he could return to a strategic position in the long term – possibly as the successor to motorsport consultant Helmut Marko.
“I still get on with Helmut Super, and we are also in exchange, as well as the topic,” said Vettel in the ORF Podcast “Sport am Sonntag”. However, the conversations are not yet “so intense and in depth”. Marko, 82, still has a contract until the end of 2026. In the “Kleine Zeitung”, he said that one does not specifically talk about the role, but Vettel follow everything exactly. He had previously described it as “ideal successor candidate”.
Vettel knows the internal structures at Red Bull very well, brings experience from several top teams – and is considered someone who stands for change and modern approaches. The idea also encounters approval in the paddock. “He is definitely someone who knows the business completely,” said Nico Hülkenberg. A return as a official is “quite conceivable”. For Max Verstappen it is clear: “For someone like SEB, there will always be room at Red Bull.”
