Film title and rough action already in circulation
According to a report by “Deadline”, the sequel is the preliminary title “The Social Network Part II”. The focus is not on a further story of the history of the time, but a critical examination of the social consequences of the platform.
The basis for the script is the investigative series “The Facebook Files” by Jeff Horwitz, which was published in 2021 in the “Wall Street Journal”. It is based on leaked internal documents of the now renamed group and gives insights into the background of the tech giants.
In the new film, Aaron Sorkin is to critically target the development of Facebook and include responsibility and social division in the digital age.
Among other things, the film will deal with the effects of Facebook on young people and children of pre -pubertal age, violence and the influence on countries outside the United States. According to “Deadline”, the role of the platform for the storm on the US capitol on January 6, 2021 will also play a central role.
Occupation and cinema release so far unclear
So far, there is no official information at the start of production or a planned release date. It is currently also unclear whether Jesse Eisenberg will slip into the role of Mark Zuckerberg again. Andrew Garfield, who played in the first part of Zuckerberg’s business partner Eduardo Saverin in 2024, commented in front of “Esquire” to the rumors about a sequel: “I cannot imagine that I will be part of it because I think that Eduardo simply lives from his billions in Singapore.” Nothing is known to Justin Timberlake, who at that time slipped into the role of consultant Sean Parker.
Critical look at the Facebook founder
Jesse Eisenberg himself has also clearly distanced himself from Zuckerberg: “I don’t want to be associated with someone like him,” he said on “BBC Radio”. “It’s not like having played a great golfer and now everyone thinks I am a great golfer.”

“The Social Network” was considered the milestone of the modern biopics in 2010. The film showed the rapid success of Facebook and the conflict between Mark Zuckerberg and his founders at the time. Despite criticism of historical accuracy, the work was celebrated, won three Oscars and is considered one of the best films in the 2010s. Quentin Tarantino even described him in an interview with “Premiere” as the “best film of the decade”.
