The future of Cristiano Ronaldo has been clarified and is still in Saudi Arabia. The superstar has extended his expiring contract with Al-NassR FC. The club from the capital Riad posted a video on Thursday with the signature “The story continues”, in which the striker says “forever al-wet”. Shortly afterwards, the contract was officially announced until 2027-then the five-time balloon d’Or winner is 42 years old.
Ronaldo has been playing at Al-Nassr since January 2023 and had left his future open until the end. After there were rumors that the Portuguese could decide to move to the club World Cup to move to Brazil, the striker heated up speculation himself with a contribution on social media. “This chapter has been completed. The story? Is still written. I am grateful to everyone,” he wrote to a photo that shows him in the jersey of Al-Nassr. Many fans evaluated the words that Ronaldo did not explain further as a farewell message.
Ronaldo has so far been on 93 goals and 19 templates in 109 games for Al-Nassr. After fourth place in the Saudi Pro League and the semi-final in the AFC Champions League, he was also denied a club title for the time being in the third season in the desert. The Arab Club Champions Cup, which Ronaldo won with Al-Nassri 2023, is not listed by FIFA as an official competition.
