ProRail has found the cause of the signal failure that caused a great deal of nuisance on Schiphol on Wednesday. It is a defective rail coil, “an electrical component that makes it possible for trains to be able to run,” explains a spokeswoman for the rail manager. A ProRail contractor starts repairing the defect around 10 p.m., a “complex job”. The recovery is expected to take all night.
