A photo of the American Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, together with Pope Leo, was placed on Wednesday on the social media channels of the Kerk prince. Roumie was accompanied in the Vatican by, among others, Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene), George Xanthis (John The Apostle), Vanessa Benavente (Mother Mary).
For Roumie, the meeting with Leo was special. “When he was chosen, I cried because I never thought I would experience an American pope in my life,” said the actor according to Catholic News Agency.
Roumie met Pope Franciscus in 2021
It is not the first time that Roumie has met a pope. In 2021 he already had the opportunity to shake hands with Leo’s predecessor Franciscus.
