Until shortly before the game remained unclear whether the two top talents Ben Saraf and Noa Essengue will be in the squad – because both players have registered for the NBA Draft, which takes place at the same time as the BBL final series. Noa Essengue decided to travel to New York, but Ben Saraf was in the squad of coach Ty Harrelson.

Ulm with Starting difficulties – Lucic and Kharchenkov scores for Munich

The Ulm came to the game at the beginning, transformed only one throw out of the game in the first five minutes. The guests from Munich met – especially from the field – significantly more high -proof than the home side and initially took the lead 8: 3. Tobias Jensen’s first successful Ulm Dreier led to the meantime 8: 8 before the guests expanded their lead to 19:13 for the first quarter of the break. Vladimir Lucic and Ivan Kharchenkov contributed 11 points from the Munich. On the Ulm side there was only one assist and six turnover.

Ulm meeting from outside

In the second quarter there was a similar picture: the Ulm with simple ball losses and some misconceptions, while the guests continued to score successfully. A dunk of Jack White led to the highest Munich leadership of the first half – 24:14. Then the home side came better into the game and proved why they are the best three-point team in the league: Tobias Jensen, who scored ten points in the second quarter alone, Nelson Weidemann and Philipp Herkenhoff met from outside. Again Weidemann (Per Korbleger) put the Ulm in the lead almost two minutes before the end of the second quarter with 27:26. With 32:32 we went into the break. Justinian Jessup, who had decided game three with an outstanding performance, has so far been without a dot.

Defensive exchange of blows

A very balanced game developed in the third part of the game. Both teams focused on their defensive efforts and tried to disturb the game of the opponent. After a good six and a half minutes, both teams only scored nine points. The rebound statistics of the home side were nevertheless remarkable: 10 offensive rebounds were on the Ulm side. Shabazz Napier put Bayern in the lead with a wild threes (49:44).

Bavaria successful in crunchtime

Napier had another five points followed at the beginning of the fourth section and expanded the leadership of the guests to ten points in (56:46). At this point in the game, the Ulm no longer looked present and only scored two points until then, compared to 14 on the Munich side. Even a break did not bring any changes. The guests from Munich brought their lead over time and won the game at 67:53.

Weidemann: “We had to struggle with the energy”

Nelson Weidemann sees above all the lack of energy of the team as a reason for the defeat: “We were a bit through. That might be due to the temperature or even the over -euphoria if you are young.” The team has had a long, intensive season and many games in the bones, says Weidemann.

The decision for the title is now falling Thursday, June 26th. at 8:00 p.m. in Munich. The Bavarian Radio broadcasts the decision live.
