Michael van Gerwen returns this weekend at the international dartspodium during the US Darts Masters in New York. The professional Dartsbond PDC reports this. The Vlijmense Topdarter lasts a short break at the end of May because of his divorce by Daphne Govers, with whom he had been married for more than ten years and was together for twenty years. The couple has two children, Mike and Zoë.

Last Saturday Van Gerwen already participated during a demonstration tournament in Waregem, Belgium. His official return to the PDC Tour now follows, barely a month after his announced break.

“To our grief I want to let us know that Daphne and I have decided to end our relationship,” Van Gerwen wrote on social media in May. “As a result, I have withdrawn from the upcoming tournaments.”

The triple world champion was in a sporting crisis before his break. At the UK Open he was eliminated early and in the Premier League he missed the play-offs-unique in his career. His last tournament victory dates from September last year.

On his official website, three more tournaments are planned: Kiel (Germany), Blackpool (VK) and Wollongong (Australia). Whether Van Gerwen is participating in these events has not yet been confirmed.
