Midsummer is a dear nightless celebration for Finns.

Midsummer is a mid -summer celebration. For Finns, a significant sacred celebration may include the time spent with their loved ones.

What does all Midsummer celebrate? Iltalehti explored the midsummer memories of familiar people.

Car for scratches

The popular presenter and actor Gogi Mavromichalis says that Midsummer has always gone calm. He says he has always spent Midsummer at his friend’s cottage. If something has changed, before Gogi and his friends were young, now old.

One slightly bad memory for Gog comes to mind from Midsummer. Gogi and his loved ones were at the cottage spending Midsummer. The car of the family involved attracted young men to the path of evil.

– We were at the cottage spending Midsummer with the family. There was also a family who had a really dusty car.

Gogi and his friends got a king idea.

– Then, at night, under the influence of alcohol, we drawn that dusty car full of drawings from all over the world.

After the car owner woke up in the morning, he had cursed the boys to Horna’s Tuut.

“The car owner had gone to wash the car, and it was quite scratching,” Gogi recalls.

– Tomuha is a small sand, so when the car was tired, it was time to scratch.

Spoke in tongues

Multi -entrepreneur Niina Kuhta says she spent the last midsummer abroad and does not find the mid -summer celebration so significant.

However, from one of the midsummer in his youth, Kuhda comes to mind. Kuhta had spent a year in the United States, and after returning from there, the album had been left on.

– Then I slept through the midsummer and every time someone woke up, I spoke English, Kuhta laughs.

The matter aroused hilarity in Kuhda’s friends. The same thing happened later, but the other way around: when he was abroad, Kuhta spoke when he woke up when he woke up.

– In that language, then reacted what he was used to.

In Finland, English was already understood in the 1990s, but not only smiles, not only smiles, abroad, has aroused.

– There is no denying a slightly special language abroad, Kuhta says, referring to Finnish.

A life -free start

Musician lyricist Ilkka Vainio remembers a case from his youth that he considers to be a warning example.

Vainio spent Midsummer in 1978 in Tammisaari with his friends with his friends in a remote forest on the rock, baking sausage. At some point, the evening’s drinks started to run out and 17-year-old Vainio came up with a job with a friend to get more drinks from the car.

– We made Deep Purple to play and sat there with a friend and drink beer, Vainio recalls the events.

Next, the boys were already in traffic with a small yellow datsun. Vainio’s guy sitting in the wheel had just got the card. Then something happened that was going to take the spirit of Vainio.

– A huge fir was encountered through an air flight. I remember that air flight and when the guy tried to steer that car.

In 1978, seat belts were not generally used yet. As a result, the head of Vainio drunk went through the windshield and was badly wounded. Vainio, a bleeding throughout, fought himself out of the car and headed up from the depth where the car had remained on the roof.

The car was drove, but its driver scared the blood and packed away. Vainio says he prayed on his knees and thinks he would die in that place. The cuckoo started to fall in the background.

Surprisingly, a couple of young people ran across the field. They had heard the sting and alerted help. Vainio was rushed to Tammisaari Hospital for cutting. He survived, but says his darts have been wrapped in gauze. Vainio also received blood at the hospital.

– I always say that I have written my text with the blood of others, Vainio carves, and thanks the blood donors.

The scars from the incident have faded, and Vainio regards the case as a reminder and teaching for himself and to others, and emphasizes the importance of using the seat belts – and the clear of the seats. He still remembers the surgeon who cut him.

Vainio of this Midsummer says he spent in Koskenkylä next to Loviisa. There are plans to drive on a solar boat and spend time with your loved ones. Vainio says he has been clear for eight years, but does not deny his companions to enjoy alcohol.

– Alcohol is a happy thing, but it was too happy for me, Vainio sums it up.

Busy years

Midsummer Midsummer Midsummer reminds me of the 1980s when he was an active bodybuilder. The fitness career was not just a competition, but Elomaa also says he has performed tremendously in these years.

In Elomaa, who received the Miss Olympic in 1981, Midsummer was significant for the performance. Elomaa highlights the Ruka Midsummer Festival’s advertising poster from 1982. In the middle of the poster, Eloma poses.

– It was special in bodybuilding shows that they could not last five minutes. The music came from the backing tape and then posed.

Despite the short duration of the performances, Midsummer was hectic. Midsummer performances started early in the evening and ended in the morning. Elomaa remembers how in 1982 the gigs did not go by car, but at the water level. It was a big world.

– Even then, on Midsummer, they flown with water levels to four places. We started either from the north or the south and then went through the places. Five minutes of performance and the next place, Elomaa recalls.

– Such Midsummer should be the next couple of years.

Elomaa remembers how popular bodybuilding was in the 1980s. According to Eloma, fitness schools rose all over Finland like mushrooms in the rain.

“It was a huge mood in the eighties then,” the former bodybuilder recalls.
