This year, this year will be 40 years old. The main actors in the favorite series still hold one.

Dempsey & Makepeace (in Finnish Battle pair) was a highly acclaimed crime drama in the 1980s. The series made three production seasons and a total of 30 episodes. Starring South African-born actress Glynis Barber and Brooklyn-based US actress Michael Brandon. The series also had a powerful cast of actresses and a recognizable explosive initial music composed by Alan Parker.

The charm of the series was largely based on different starting points and friction. Brandon’s character James Dempsey was a tough New York police officer and Barber’s Harriet “Harry” Makepeace, a high -end London. The main couple had a mutual attraction that at the end of the series gave the viewer an understanding of falling in love. During the golden age of the series, Makepeace’s magnificent hairstyle was sought.
No love at first glance
At the first meeting, Barber considered Brandon a disgusting and nightmare. He did not know that Brandon was already working on his role at the time.
– He was really loud and shouted at the full.
“That man is a nightmare, I don’t know how I can work with him,” Barber told his boyfriend when he went home.
However, as the fictional story progressed, real life began to happen. What all the fans hoped for was the scenes – outside the screen.

“Our series continues with 35 years of marriage – great casting,” says Brandon now.
– We are still together and contrary to all the probabilities. That is, Michael and Glynis are together, not Dempsey and Makepeace. There’s a big difference, Barber points out.
Barber also reveals that the relationship between the actor’s couple has always been passionate and volatile, both up and downhill.

At its best, the popular series was followed by up to 20 million viewers in the UK. The series got a cold ride from critics, but the audience loved it. It became a global hit at a time when the British TV series did not yet meet a global audience. The series was sold to more than 75 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. The pair was identified everywhere.
– It was bigger in France than in England. It was huge in Poland and saved me from speeding in Spain, Brandon recalls.
The series ended in practice without a clear reason after three seasons. Nevertheless, there are still a couple of loyal fan clubs and a website to witness the cultural reputation of the series.
Glynis Barber is active in social media. Currently she has eagerly marketed her husband’s new That’s All I’m Saying book.
