Borussia Dortmund’s sports director Sebastian Kehl spoke plain text after the disappointing zero number at the start of the club World Cup against Fluminense Rio de Janeiro and taken the players.
Before the next group game on Saturday in Cincinnati (12 p.m./Sat.1 and DAZN) against Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, Kehl called for a significant increase in performance by the Bundesliga club.
“We have to deliver the next game too,” said Kehl in Fort Lauderdale in the Dortmund training camp at Inter Miami. According to his own statement, after the return from New Jersey, where the Dortmund played 0-0 against Fluminense on Tuesday in East Rutherford, he had many one -on -one discussions and made it clear to the players that “we have to increase”.
Kehl calculates with an increase in performance
“The game showed us that we have to stretch,” said Kehl, adding to the players’ address: “I am very confident that we will do the next two games better.”
The last group opponent will be again in Cincinnati HD Ulsan from South Korea next Wednesday, which had lost 0-1 at the start against Mamelodi. Despite the weak performance against fluminense, BVB coach Niko Kovac is confident that two wins are drawn into the round of 16. “It was important to take this one point with the group constellation,” Kehl admitted.
‘My alarm clock rings very early’: Kehl gives transfer update
So far, Borussia Dortmund’s sports director has not had much time for the beach in Fort Lauderdale or a trip to Miami during the World Club World Cup. Kehl is already tinkering with the squad in Florida for the new season. “I haven’t been to the beach once on the beach. I haven’t seen anything from the country and people,” said Kehl in the Dortmund training quarters at Inter Miami.
The Dortmunders have been in Florida for almost a week and since then Kehl has been on its feet early on. “My alarm clock rings very early a day. Of course I try to take European time a bit. There are of course a few homework to do,” said Kehl.
It should not stay with Jobe Bellingham, who had come to the USA for 30 million euros last week for 30 million euros and has already traveled to the United States. For other major transfers, BVB is dependent on departures or a good tournament in the USA. Because from reaching the round of 16, which is the Dortmund minimal goal, many million euros can be won from round to round.
Among others Gitten, Özcan, Moukoko, Haller should go
As a departure, Jamie Gitten is primarily an option for whom the Dortmund wanted at least 60 million euros. A transfer failed before the club World Cup to Chelsea FC, but a later change in summer should be discussed again.
In the best case, the 20 -year -old English wing racer still operates its own promotion in the United States. “I am sure that Jamie is still important for us in the course of the tournament,” said Kehl, who is otherwise working on the departures of players who are no longer there at the Club World Cup: Salih Özcan, Youssoufa Moukoko and Sebastien Haller. “Of course there are topics in our squad. There are players who are not there who are of course discussed,” confirmed Kehl.
On the shopping list there is currently a defender and a striker as a backup for striker Serhou Guirassy. “Nevertheless, it is still quiet in many corners. Maybe something will happen in the next few days. Let’s wait,” said Kehl a little mysterious.
The BVB share temporarily notes 0.92 percent higher at EUR 3.82.
