Finally, the US President was often seen with FIFA boss Infantino. Now there was a special present from one of the most popular footballers that contained a personal dedication.

A special gift subsequently on the 79th birthday: Cristiano Ronaldo had US President Donald Trump sent a signed jersey-provided with a clear message. The present was presented by the Portuguese EU Council President António Costa on the edge of the G7 summit in Canada.

The dedication is on the jersey that Trump received on Monday: “To President Donald J. Trump. Playing for Peace”. (In German: “To President Donald J. Trump. Play for peace”). The words can be understood as a request to continue to campaign for a ceasefire in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Costa published a photo on the platform X that Trump shows with the jersey. The 63-year-old wrote: “To President @Raldonaldtrump. We play for peace. As a team.” A communication consultant Trump also shared a video in which Costa reads the message. Trump’s reaction: “Oh, I like that. That’s great!” (In German: “Oh, I like that. It’s great!”).

The 40-year-old Ronaldo does not take part in the current club World Cup in the USA with his club Al-Nassr. Nevertheless, the tournament for Trump is important: the President presented the club World Cup trophy in the Oval Office in advance. Trump maintains close contacts with FIFA boss Gianni Infantino. He had accompanied the US politician several times, was present at his inauguration and traveled to the Arabic Golf with him in May.

The friendship between Trump and Infantino ensures frowning with experts. Human rights activist Sylvia Schenk, who used to be in the FIFA’s human rights advisory board, said to T-Online: “Two were looking for and found. These are two men who always put themselves in the foreground. To call them extroverted is still understood.”

The next World Cup is coming up in the coming year – in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Then Ronaldo could also be there again.
