The De Wever government accepts NATO standard of 5 percent, despite fierce criticism from party presidents

Belgium will accept the NATO summit in The Hague next week when increasing defense expenditure to 5 percent of the gross domestic product. However, party presidents Conner Rousseau (Vooruit), Georges-Louis Bouchez (MR) and Sammy Mahdi (CD&V) against those plans last weekend. Why can’t the De Wever government accept that requirement?
