According to media reports, the former Welsh football star Gareth Bale is involved in discussions about a possible takeover of the English second division relegated with Plymouth Argyle.
The five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid therefore belongs to a American group of investors who has signaled an interest in the club. The conversations with a private equity company are therefore still at an early stage.
So far, it is unclear what role Bale would take on in the event of a successful takeover. Previously, with Luka Modric (Swansea), football icon Tom Brady (Birmingham) as well as the actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney (Wrexham), prominent personalities had already entered English football.
