After Joe Enoch’s return as the new sports director, the position of head coach at VfL Osnabrück is still vacant. The 53-year-old was presented on June 11, his first task in Osnabrück is the obligation of a successor for Marco Antwerp. According to “Reviersport”, a favorite has been identified with the former Bundesliga coach Timo Schultz.

According to information from the sports committee, everything indicates an employment of the 47-year-old, and on Saturday he is said to have been on site for final contract talks. Schultz most recently worked – from January to June 2024 – for the 1st FC Köln, but could not prevent the descent with the cathedral cities. Previous stations were FC Basel and FC St. Pauli, for which the native Wittmund had played 138 competitive games and sat 92 times with the professionals on the coaching bench.

At the end of May, third division Osnabrück announced the separation of Antwerp and assistant Frank Döpper with a long list of grievances of the past few months. The duo on the Bremen bridge had only taken over at the turn of the year. In the 3rd league, the purple and whites succeeded after some tremors. Nevertheless, the season of the previous second division team could only be seen as a great failure. Most recently, the team missed participation in the DFB Cup in the state cup final against BW Lohne (2: 4). After reporting on discrepancies between the coach and club tour and team, Antwerp in the communication of the VfL did not have their say.
