Suzan & Freek have decided two and a half weeks after destructive cancer diagnosis to take up again. Does that also mean The Voice just continues? “That is more difficult.”

It was an outright shock: two and a half weeks ago, on a Monday after the three concerts they gave in the Ziggo Dome, Suzan & Freek were told that he has metastatic lung cancer. A day later he shared the disastrous news with the rest of the world and they decided to cancel their next three Ziggo concerts.

Nevertheless performance again

Suzan & Freek will now perform again. “Suus feels very good at pregnancy and Freek feels really good with these medicines, so we try to pick up life as much as possible,” they say on Instagram. “The first week we only cried, as anxious as we were.”

“Now, two and a half weeks later, there is some more sunlight and tranquility every day in our days. Sometimes we don’t have it for hours and the feeling of happiness always takes up a larger part of the day. (…) Why would we stop living and waiting at home at home while we can also do what we do mostly?”

Also in The Voice?

Luuk Ikink asks in RTL Boulevard Relax what this means for their collaboration with The Voice of Holland. “Yes, what happens to The Voice? Because they are actually a coach at The Voice, but everyone assumed: yes, okay, they have put their work, so that is no longer possible. Is there an opening for that?”

TV connoisseur Rob Goossens then: “Of course we asked the RTL today and who say that there is nothing new to report in that regard. I can imagine that it is different because of course that is a whole process where you cannot say: today I feel good and not on the next shooting day.”

Thirteen performances

Suzan & Freek start with Concert at Sea, which will take place in two weeks. This is followed by the other festivals that were already planned. “They now have thirteen performances. Suppose Freek says on two days:” Yes, today it just won’t work, “then there is no one to wear it.”

He concludes: “Of course that is also true if you can’t do it at The Voice, but with such a large production it seems to me – no matter how it is to draw that conclusion – more sensible to look for replacements.”
