The next winner of the “premier class” of handball comes from Germany. Shortly after the Füchsen Berlin, SC Magdeburg also made its way into the final – against a top team.

SC Magdeburg can dream of the third triumph in the handball champions League after 2002 and 2023. The runner -up won the second semi -final against record winner and defending champion FC Barcelona at 31:30 (6:18 p.m.) at the final in Cologne and will meet the Foxes Berlin on Sunday (6 p.m.) in the German final. The capital club had previously prevailed against the French representative HBC Nantes with 34:24.

Almost two weeks after his shoulder injury, Magdeburg-Ace Gisli Kristjansson celebrated his comeback in the duel with the Spanish series champion, in which three players saw the red card in the course of the dramatic game. Nevertheless, the team of coach Bennet Wiegert constantly ran behind in the first half, which grew to four goals for the first time at 12:16 (23rd).

But as in the semi -finals two years ago, which the Magdeburgers had won against Barça in seven -meter throwing, the game remained tight. Shortly before the break, the SCM, in which the Icelander Omar Ingi Magnusson was the best thrower with eleven goals, was equal.

Even the Magdeburgers were not unsettled by a new three-goal deficit after the change. 14 minutes before the end, the German runner -up took the lead for the first time at the 25:24. In the dramatic final phase, the SCM had the better nerves and cheered the last second with a goal from Tim Hornke.
