Long jumper Markus Rehm von Bayer Leverkusen has secured the title at the German Para Championships of athletes in Leichlingen. Johannes Floors finished second over the 100 meters.

The four-time Paralympics winner Rehm won 8.31 meters on Friday afternoon. “That was good today,” Rehm wrote after the competition on his Instagram channel. “But there is still room for improvement. It’s getting slow.”

After his best attempt, Rehm still shook his head and was annoyed by the not perfect jump from his point of view. With 8.72 meters, Rehm holds the world record in para-longing jump.

Floors is strictly subject to the 100 meters

Rehms Leverkusen team -mate Johannes Floors meanwhile had to be satisfied with the 100 meters with second place (10.84 seconds). It won Felix Streng, Olympic champion in Tokyo in 2021, in 10.72 seconds.

In the preliminary run, Floors had just had his nose strictly before 10.60 seconds (10.63 seconds). With their times, both met the World Cup standard for the title fights in India from September 26th.

Cappel in the shot put confidently

Colale pusher Nico Kappel, triple Paralympics medalist, secured the title on Saturday with 14.72 meters. Kappel from VfB Stuttgart keeps the world record with 15.07 meters.
