Albert Verlinde gets a tough wipe from Ben Saunders’ pan. Voice awareness calls him in one breath with Keith Bakker. “Some people are just disgusting,” it sounds.

It never worked out between Albert Verlinde and Ben Saunders since the show connoisseur went completely loose on voice recognition and his loved ones. Albert spoke of a ‘Tokkie family’ after Ben had mistreated a traffic controller in Hoorn. “We just have to deal with an anti -social family. That’s how it is, and no different.”

Albert and Keith

Ten years later Ben is still not forgotten. When he is asked which Dutch celebrities he hates, he answers in the Party: “I don’t have any problems with anyone, but I just find some people disgusting. For example, Albert Verlinde or the recently deceased Keith Bakker.”

The convicted sex offender Keith died in April. “I was once a guest at the then talk show Pauw & Witteman. I knew a lot that the Keith Bakker came to sit next to me. I felt uncomfortable during the conversations at the table. You could also see that in the broadcast.”

Sitting position

Ben would find it terrible to sit next to Albert, but besides Keith he could hardly restrain himself. “With my sitting position I took more and more distance from that man. I thought: just a little while and you go back in your chair, man. I really thought so. And the same feeling had more people in the studio, but also at home.”

From now on he will never again say ‘yes’ to a TV invitation. In addition to Keith, he can no longer be put down, but in addition to Albert he does not want to be set. “Since that moment I always want to know who I am dealing with if I say ‘yes’ to something. I would rather not participate if I am dealing with people who are not me. I watch for that.”

No ass

No, it has to be on Ben’s conditions. “Some other people don’t care who they come on TV with, as long as they come on TV. Even though they have to put on a pink suit and sing ‘Tulips from Amsterdam’, they all just do it. I don’t.”

The Voice can call him. For the role of coach. “If they pay enough … I have to close my tattoo shop much more in such a case, that of course has to be more than compensated.”
