It is only a small piece of cycle path, but it is a widely used piece in the center of the city. Along Restaurant Shabu Shabu is closed about 30 meters from the cycling and walking path. There are fences and yellow signs indicate that everyone there must cross. At first glance, nothing happens at all. Then why that closure?

This road closing along the Denmarklaan has been there for months. Not everyone sticks to the detour, because it is not clear why you are not allowed to walk or cycle there. So walkers just walk over the sidewalk and cyclists slalom between the gates. Indebuurt comes to the municipality for explanation.

A deposition for a deposition

According to the municipality, the closure of the cycle path on Denmarklaan has to deal with the construction of Cadenza2 apartment building. A spokesperson says: “In the first instance we closed the cycle path away, but many cyclists went along the deposition. They drove over Italiërlaan, where a lot of construction traffic is running. For their safety we closed the cycle path at an earlier point. That is that place at the corner of the Denmarklaan and Germanylaan.”

With a detour

To keep cyclists away from the construction site, they have to ride on the cycle path across the street. “For example, they are better led to the cycle path on the east side of Italylaan and Denmarklaan. Cyclists with a destination in the area, such as the bicycle shed near east, can still go to the deposition,” says the spokesperson.

Dura Vermeer expects to deliver the Cadenza2 apartments in the spring of 2026. Until that time, the detour will continue to apply to cyclists and walkers.
