Tether translates from English as a stop, as a load capacity or tying up. And Annahtstasia Enukes is as deep as emotional voice, Lullt and captivates. It is understandable that the comment columns of their music videos keep up with the comparison to Tracy Chapman. It was not until 2023 that the Nigerian-American musician published her first EP Revival and immediately received the exceptional vocalist from “NME”.
She herself describes her voice as a tool to shape the emotional space around her. It is carried by a reduced and well -arranged folk. For her debut, Annahtasia gathered around the producers who have already worked with acts such as Anhni and the Johnsons, Frank Ocean or Lana del Rey. All recordings of the album were created as a live tile-to capture the atmosphere of the community in the studio.
Anhstasias intuitive, spiritual approach meanders to interpersonal relationships and their own strength in vulnerability. Developed as a spoken word intervention (“All is. Will. As it is what”), as a gentle neo-soul duett, together with the Nigerian artist Obongjayar (“Slow”) and culminates with “Believer” in the cathartic folk rock at the end of the long player.
